BRIEF INTRODUCTION:
VISION:
This Trust is unique in Karnataka, which strives to enhance quality of life of rural educated youth through assessment and identification of their intrinsic strengths and appropriate skill enhancement to achieve better employability prospects.
The preference is given to rural youth who come from socially and economically backward section and community areas of Karnataka.
MISSION
The immediate areas that have been identified for life skill enhancement of the deserving young boys and girls is by way of screening for aptitude and thereafter providing basic skills enhancement in one or more of following streams.
a) Administration and Management (AM)b) Financial Management (FM) and
c) Operational Management (OM)
Thus the aim of the Trust is to get talented boys and girls to take active part in both Government and Private sector by way of employment.
Based on the aptitude of the entrants, they are trained/coached to crack the competitive govt. entrance exam in the Administrative and Operational Management, by providing free coaching for IAS, KAS and such other competitive examinations conducted by Central and State Governments & Public-Sector Undertakings.
In so far as Financial Management, the trust is providing online and offline coaching to make our youths to take up competitive examinations conducted by IBPS and such other examinations.
Presently the trust is providing free coaching. Minimum cost for boarding and lodging to all the selected entrants.
ABOUT THE TRUST:
Trust was established on 20th May, 2015 under the patronage of Mr. R.L. Jalappa who is well known for his philanthropic activities more than as an astute politician. Under his mentorship and generous donation by way of financial contribution to the Trust has made significant contribution in aptitude-based skill enhancement to the rural youth of Karnataka. It was the unanimous opinion of all the Trustees that this Trust be named after the mentor and thus "R.L. JALAPPA ACADEMY" came into being to fulfill the vision.
FOUNDERS & TRUSTEES:
Mr. R.L. Jalappa – Founder Chairman is a towering personality in the field of politics and is equally well known as a philanthropist and a social reformer. His single purpose to improve and better the livelihood of rural India was the driving force and his passion for education lead to establishing a skill enhancement academy. In order to delink the likelihood of commercialisation, he made his mission into a non-profiting Trust and diligently chose other Trustees with equal zeal and passion.
Late Mr. J.P. Narayanaswamy was one of the founder Trustees and co-founders. In 2015, he was instrumental in helping the Trust to acquire a land by way of lease and instrumental in developing the campus at Soluru to help in achieving the objectives of the Trust.
In order to bring in talent to make this novel idea a reality and an astounding success, other Trustees from different walks of life such as retired Government officers, Industrialists, Businessmen, Educationists, Writers and Journalists etc have been inducted on the Board.
CORE OBJECTIVES OF THE TRUST:
THIS IS A REGISTERED CHARITABLE TRUST WITH THE FOLLOWING CORE OBJECTIVES:
1. To provide guidance and training to the rural youth, of both genders, to face the competitive world of meritocracy through examinations conducted by Central & State Governments and PSUs.
2. To provide education that promotes learning opportunities through skill development and confidence building including digital literacy and by upscaling initiatives that strengthen Adult literacy so that they come to the main-stream by way of joining a govt/private services/ employment or make them ready for self-employment so as to contribute their might to the society.
INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE ACADEMY:
The academy is situated in a14 acre lush green campus at Soluru, Magadi Taluk, Ramanagara District on NH 48 Bangalore- Mangalore Highway which is 21 km from Nelamangala, and about 40 kms from Bangalore.
It has a college building with spacious classrooms, sprawling and well-stocked library, a modern computer lab with Internet facility and required software to train and prepare the aspirants for the concerned competitive examination and necessary skill enhancement.
Separate hostel for boys and girls in the campus with attached kitchen and pantry provide nourishing diet. The Campus also has a huge stadium, an open-air theatre, a community hall and a place of worship to promote spirit de core and leadership. A captive vegetable garden provides for bulk of the canteen needs. The facilities, pleasant ambience, good infrastructure motivates and drive the youth to prepare for their future.
The Campus is on a long lease for a notional value by Arya Idiga Mahasamsthana, Soluru and this would not have been possible but for personal and untiring efforts of Late Mr. J.P. Narayanaswamy, the then President of Arya Idiga Mahasamsthana.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
The Academy/ Trust has trained more than 2282 youth in different competitive examinations and is a moment of pride that more than 529 Candidates have been employed in various sectors like Government, Banking & Private industry.
It is a matter of unbridled joy that nearly 40-45 % per cent of the total intake of 2015 To 20/Jan/2024 batches was girls and thus the path of rural women empowerment is very much evident.
SUSTINENANCE
The Trust is very fortunate to have founder chairman and trustees who have generously donated and built a corpus that has been gainfully spent in creating the assets to meet the vision and mission. The present corpus barely meets the day-to-day running. As the Trust enters the third year, the need of the hour is to ramp up the various programmes.
The academy/ trust have certain operating costs such as:
a. Coaching fee to visiting facultyb. Software & Internet costs
c. Library augmentation costs
d. Utility payments
e. Establishment cost such as Infrastructure maintenance staff salaries
d. Subsidy of student food / canteen costs
Presently this operating expense is sourced from donations from public, regular contribution from Trustees and like-minded people. In order to widen the areas of skill development, additional funds are proposed to be raised through active participation of the industry. Towards this, various schemes have been thought of and we invite the leading industries of our country and in particular Karnataka and other organisations.

STATUTORY REGISTRATIONS:
THE TRUST IS REGISTERED WITH THE FOLLOWING AUTHORITIES:a. Registrar of Societies under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960.
b. The Trust has obtained a Section 12A certificate and 80G certificate under Income-Tax Act, 1961 which helps the Donors to obtain tax benefits and also helps the Trust to claim certain tax exemptions.
